    Dying Thick 'Laminates' Question

I know this might not technically fall under the category of 'finishing,' but I didnt know where else to post the question, which is this:

"How does one dye a piece of (1/4") wood all the way thru?" IE. I'm trying to get the dye to completely penetrate the wood, not just the surface

I'm looking to dye thin pieces of substrate that can be laminated and shaped, like the way (I think) they make skateboard. This will be for a piece of furniture.

I've got a vacuum chamber. I'm also in the process of building a steam rig. For some reason I think one of these methods might be the starting point, but I figured I'd turn to the forum for some better guidance.

Any advice, recommendations, or Youtube links are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matt

I haven’t done that but I’d think you would have to completely immerse the wood in the dye and pull a vacuum on it until it quits bubbling then bleed off the vacuum and pressurize it. I’d use an alcohol or solvent base dye.

Always use the word "impossible" with extreme caution
