    Neander Weed Whacking

Been out cutting the tall grass and weeds. The gas powered weed eater is easier and makes the mulch better, but the old scythe can clear a bit faster. It also leaves a bigger pile of trimmings since it is only cut once or twice before it forms its piles.

Of course it is a bit more of a workout.

Sometimes it's the best tool for the job. I had some Johnson Grass that had to be cut that a string would only beat up, and the clearing saw would load up too much with it, laying it back on top of me. The Scythe laid it down in neat rows.

That's what was used around here, before the invention of the string trimmer. Everyone around here calls it a "swing blade".
