    DC 380 Planner

Delta DC-380 planner: It has 2 speeds, 30-FPM and 16-FPM, and Neutral. Its says change gears only when machine is running. When is it advantageous to go full out 30FPM and when to go 16FPM?

30FPM would be best when rough milling and 15FPM would be for the final pass(es).

380 is a fairly light duty 3 hp planer. You will really need light passes at the fast speed. Lots of stress. I'm betting you will go with the slow speed 90% of the time. Dave
