Thanks to all those that commented recently. I am putting it to good use. I continue to explore the different ways I can saw, plane and chisel on the workbench to reshape wood into a finished project!

I'm not sure how much I'll end up using the seat, but it does complete the 'Benchcrafted' workbench! I built my Moxon vise to be mounted in the tail vise and having the seat swing out puts it centered on that vise. I haven't used it yet because, 1 - my workbench is a little lighter being that it's scale down a touch from the plans (top is 3" vs 4" and the legs are 4" vs 5", etc..) and 2 - I weigh too much! When I sit on the seat the bench is on the verge of tipping! When I get the bench moved to the wall I'll put up a ledger that will sit above the lower back rail keeping the back of the workbench from coming up. Or I could just lose some weight. Which do you think will happen?

I like your bench, nice job! Our benches are almost twins!

I have to agree; it is absolutely beautiful. I think you're going to have to add some serious ballast to the back side in order to use the seat, however.

The swing away hardware can be bought at Benchcrafted, that is where all the hardware on the bench is from.

John,

You are right, as mentioned before it will sit against a wall and I'll put a ledger above the lower back rail and between the two back legs that is fastened to the wall. This will prevent the upward rotation of the back of the bench as well as prevent the bench from sliding longitudinally.
