    Veritas mallet, I'm confused

    Let the picture speak...

I'm a bit of a perfectionist and as long as I look at that stamp it seems to be just not in the right place. Really, I don't believe it was accident. No one can do it so precisely out of center. Not to say it's unlikely hand stamped.
Woodworkers, please tell me that it was on purpose and I will continue studying zen and meditating looking at it. Tell me if you have your mallet stamped in the same place.

    Added:
This Veritas mallet is indeed unbeatable in the design. The mystery of off-center logo was solved by Simon. Logo move center weight just enough to prevent mallet rolling off the bench. I gonna test it on granite flat proved surface and compare with centered logo as soon as I find vintage centered-logo mallet.

Mine is scribed dead center, but it wouldn't bother me if it wasn't.

I have absolutely no idea what the tops of any of my mallets look like. I'm sure I could not pick one out of a lineup by looking at the tops.

That is a rather odd placement! If it bothers you too much I'm sure they would exchange it for you, they are excellent when it comes to customer service.

You've got the tasteful, artistic one. None of that dull centering business.

If it bothers you, contact Lee Valley; they're pretty accommodating.

My (uneducated) guess is that it is done to keep the mallet off center so it won't roll off the bench like so many round tools such as chisels!

This one does look better: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...llet-460120106

Isn't that the rare collector's version?
