    Wavy cuts

A guy on my route has a smallish mill. He was showing me boards & they had hills and valleys.

Any idea why the cuts are not smooth?

    Typically due to several things...
    -Underpowered mill running narrow bands
    -Under tensioned
    -Crowding/trying to feed too fast
-Rarely poorly sharpened blades (generally a poorly sharpened blade or dull will just dive or climb)

    Thanks,

I will pass along your advice.

My experience is that as a blade dulls it starts cutting wavy boards. First sign of an uneven cut I change blades.
