    Check your local Lumber Liquidators, they carry butcher block in a large variety of species that is very economical. I'd go with the 1 1/2" hard maple.

    I'm a newbie in this sphere, but I decided to make a shuffleboard table myself. I'd like to make something like those from this source, but I know, that I need lots of work to do. Anyway, right now I'm thinking of which kind of wood should I have to do that.
