All,

I'm building a big table for a friend and I didn't have the length in my shop or a wide enough jointer to flatten the table top pieces. I took them to a local woodshop to get jointed and planed. The woodshop jointed the edges at an angle so that there was either a huge gap or a significant bow in the pieces if I were to glue them up. Sending them back to the woodshop would make me lose too many days for me to meet my deadline.

Earlier I asked about using the tracksaw to finish the edges and a few people mentioned butting the pieces together and making a cut to both pieces. This way, both pieces could form a glue-able edges, even if each individual cut wasn't perfect.

It worked!

I had major anxiety (I'm on a deadline) when I thought that I couldn't finish the table on time. I'm not sure if I would have thought of this solution on my own, but having the solution already in my head made my life much easier. The first half of the table is glued up and I'm really happy to be moving forward.

This site is awesome! Thanks!
