Bridgewood Pbs 540 bogging

I’m using this as a resawsaw, and threw a brand new woodslicer blade on it, which I’m sure isn’t the best blade out there but I’d think it’d do a decent job but even resawing a 6” piece of oak and you just crawl for a feed rate, or else the motor will bog down. So do I just need to get a real blade or what?

What about the belt, is it in good nick?

What TPI woodslicer are your using. As Jesse pointed out, check your belt tension if the blade is bogging down but the motor isn't you belt is slipping.

Not sure on tpi but it’s there 3/4” blade. I will have to check the belt tension.

The 3/4" Woodlsicer is 3-4 variable tpi. Almost certainly the belt, either tension or if the tension has been low or it is old it may be glazed. The Woodslicer (sold cheaper by Iturra and Spectrum as the Blade Runner and Kerfmaster) is a very sharp thin kerf blade and the last thing it should be doing is bogging the motor on that saw in a relatively short cut. Unless there is actually a motor issue it is probably the belt/tension on the belt.

I have resawn 11" with a Woodslicer on a 2HP machine. It is certainly not "saw mill" fast but, not slow going either. Is the motor actually slowing or just the belt slipping?

I have the same saw (ACM made), branded as a Felder FB540. It has a 2.2kW motor ~3hp equivalent. I have not resawn oak, but have resawn 12" douglas fir. Bogs down with a Lenox Tri-master 3 tpi. Sails through with a Laguna Kerf King 1-2 tpi.

Belt tension was the problem! Feel really stupid for not thinking of that sooner.... but that’s why I love this forum! Thanks guys!
