    Miter Gauge Stops

I may well be having a "duh" moment.. but, so be it. I have a 14" Jet bandsaw that has the standard miter gauge slot.. 3/4" x 3/8". I need to get a miter gauge as one did not come with the saw which I've had for about 20 years now. I'd like to make a sled for this saw and would like to use a stop in the slot. However, I don't understand how to add a stop to a slot that is not a "T" slot. Any help appreciated.

I used one of these. You can also make something similar out of a slotted strip of hardwood.
