Thumbs up Tampa Wood Show, MOSI exhibit

    HI everyone

Well, I missed any Creekers at the Tampa woodworking show -- saw some great work at the show, especially Bill Arnold's table http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=26532

We coordinated the trip with a visit to the Bodies exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry

If you are at all interested in what is inside the biggest organ (yeah, our skin) this is a wonderfully inspiring opportunity.

And, as an aside, an awesome reminder of the power of a band saw-- OK, a bit of macabre humor, but there was one exhibit which was a body cut into 83 transverse sections and laid out on a 10' or so table. Then there was one specimen which was cut "right down the center" so you could see all the parts. The amazing thing is that most of the specimens were posed in very artistic ways. For example, two bodies jitterbugging. Except that when you read the information you realized that it was actually one person -- the one on the right was the skeleton and the one on the left was all the muscles from the person on the right! OK, I"m probably grossing you out, but seriously this is a wonderful exhibit. If you have a chance to get to Tampa, go! If you see it in other cities GO (there is another competing one making the rounds as well, I think it is in Chicago).

    Jay,

The exhibit was in Chicago at the Museum of Science & Industry, but wrapped up this summer.

It was open 24 hours the last week it was so popular. While I did not see it, friends that did said it was amazing.
