    Disk Sander Question

I have a 12 inch stationary disk sander and have always used 12 inch sanding disks on it. I ended up with a bunch of 8" disks. Is there any reason not to use the smaller disks as long as they are reasonably centered on the disk plate and you keep the work away from the bare metal?
    Thanks

No reason not to use it. Except that you loose over 50% of your sanding area.

Go right ahead.....Of course sanding will go slower than it would out farther on the disk, but that's often an advantage....
