    Jim, I don't believe that those joints will need much reinforcement if they are fitted together flush (his reference to the sander applies there) and the proper solvent is used. It's going to fuse the plastic together into a single piece.

    With a good heat gun and some patience even large PVC pipe can be easily bent. I've watched the electrician heat bend conduit on several different jobs.

  3. The trick with heat bending large PCV is sealing the ends to keep pressure inside so the pipe won't collapse. Some guys stuff them with all different sizes of steel flex conduit before bending, pull them out later.
    Of course, its a lot easier when you have a 6' long pipe heater....
