New Lee Valley store opens in Reno, Nevada

Just in case anyone in the area wants to browse some Veritas hand tools in the flesh so to speak.

Wait a few years and they will be popping up in the area's pawn shops.

It would never have occurred to me Reno, Nevada is the nucleus of a woodworking renaissance.

Does Nevada have a sales tax?

That would have to be a good sized purchase to pay for the gas from Sacramento to Reno, ~130 miles (for Ralph that is ~210km).

It may make sense as as a western distribution center.

Just looked it up, yes it does and it is pretty close to California's sales tax.

This "store" came up before on one of the forums and Rob Lee chimed in. The Reno location is mostly warehouse. The retail space is a mini-version of a regular LV store, so you won't be able to see the full product line, just selected items, but will allow will allow you to pickup orders. (He listed retail space size in square-feet. I don't remember the numbers, but think the Reno shop will be between 1/5 to 1/10th the size of a full store.)

I guess Rob is just sticking his toe in the water to check out the temperature south of the border.

They've had a upstate NY warehouse and been in the states for years. Per his comments, the Reno site is mostly to improve shipping to those of us in the western US.

    Hi All -

The Reno location is primarily a shipping warehouse, with an express pick-up location. We are stocking our full line there, but have a very limited showroom. We do have a complete Festool display there, as well as the Veritas line, and an eclectic mix of other product. It is certainly worth dropping by if you're in the area - but it is definitely not representative of our retail stores!

Makes a lot of sense to keep shipping costs and customs hassles under control....

I for one am appreciative that LVT established this location. My last few orders have been fulfilled there and the delivery time has been substantially reduced from when they shipped out of NY state. Sometimes how quickly you can get something is a deciding factor in where you choose to buy it.
