KentCNC making me a dust shoe air plug

I just put a cnc router at the end of my nordfab run. The 8" Pipe stops way above where I can reach at about 10'. Then the hose attaches to that and runs to my shoe from the above center ofy table. I could have made a plug/stopper to slip in the shoe, or installed a blast gate in line on the hose, but i did not want to lessen the hose integrity since it moves a lot. I then thought why not use the rare earth magnets kent has in the shoe aleady and have him make me a spacer with no hole cut for the dust hose. Basiclly a quick connect cap. Seems like a slick idea for a block. I ordered it today. In reality this collector uas enough suction, even with two other 8" ports open, to use it as is for cnc routing, so having one 4" open would be nothing. Still I like to seal off lines i am not using. Any more to come when it arrives.

Glad its my shop I am responsible for - I only have to make me happy.

Great idea! You'll have to shut down the DC to remove it.

That's a really interesting idea for a 'gate', Mike! Easier to reach, too....

My luck I'd forget about it and tell the machine to load a new tool.

I am sure theirs will be nicer to look at, but I use a smaller version of this to plug my table openings when I am using my pods. https://www.mcmaster.com/#2613k54/=1d3h3lr

Even then it would work - it just blocks the dust collector port.

Presuming you have a horizontal run to the cnc I would use a rocking blast gate which can be opened and closed via control cords.

The 10" horizontal is nordfab at 17.5ft up. So this is good

Much easier I am sure but the rocking BG works at the height using control cords.

They seem to be nice folks...my original order for the Kent hood was fulfilled a lot faster than I expected. Your request probably took only a few minutes since they could just use their current drawing as a base and quickly modify it to cut out the closure plate. That's a great solution, IMHO. I wonder if we'll see it as an offered option? (I don't recall it on their website, but then again, I never looked at the options)

The DC I installed is CRAZY! You don't really want to put this blank on while the the dc is running - you might get hurt LOL. It is a serious dust collector and suction. Better open a FEW other gates before you try and put it on. The DC is amazing at collection though. I tried it on my router table - You can barely see the chips coming off the cutter before they are gone.
