    Stickley #603 Tabouret in QSWO

I recently completed this tabouret in QSWO.

    A.jpg C.jpg B.jpg

I followed the plan in the Great Book of Shop Drawings for Craftsman Furniture by Robert W. Lang, although I modeled the shape of the bottom stretchers after the picture on the Stickley website. We'll use it as an end table.

Those stretchers are pinned, not draw bored, with home-made black walnut dowels.

The finish is based on Homestead Finishing's Mission Oak Finish guide.

    • one coat of BLO, instead of the suggested stain
    • one coat of General Finishes Seal-A-Cell Clear
    • scuff sand
    • apply General Finishes American Oak Gel Stain, then wipe clean
    • wipe on poly, instead of the suggested ArmRSeal

    Looks good Jay.

I've got one just like it that I have been working on off an on for a few years. Just mess with it when time permits. One day I'll finish it.

Beautiful, clean lines and great choice in the material for the top!

The top is 18" in diameter and 1" thick. It stands 20" high. The legs are 1 1/2" square. The stretchers are 3/4".

That's a gorgeous piece, Jay! I like the arc on the stretchers - it gives the table a little "lift" and makes it look more delicate than it is.

Very well done. That’s a table that’s on my “to do” list sometime. I really like the grain pattern and flecks in your top.

Nice. We're Stickley and A&C fans at our house and have an abundance of QSWO furniture. Your finish looks just like "Fayetteville" from Stickley.

Nice wood selection and a sturdy looking design! The legs almost look like zebra wood.
