    Another just curious............. dowell plates

Do you use them. I have two, one I made and a Lie Nielsen. I have not joined any boards recently,
but I think I will make some practice joints in case I need to do it again for real.

I have the LN version. I can't say I use it very much, but I know right where to find it if I do need it.

The only time I use mine is when I pin joints and I want the dowel to match or contrast since it is visible, I can't remember the last time I did this. Unlike Mike I am not sure where mine is, I know where it should be but not having put hands on it for so long I wouldn't bet on it being there.

    Deep thought for the day:

Your bandsaw weighs more when you leave the spring compressed instead of relieving the tension.

I use mine mostly for draw bore joints.
When the dowel come out crooked or snakey it's a good thing.
