    GRK R4 screws

Are the shorter lengths of these in size #8 getting phased out?

The 1” - 1 3/4” ones can be found at some sites such as Rockler and are still avail (hit and miss in my town) at some Borgs’s.

Amazon has them too, but some reviews question if they’re counterfeit as both the box and the screws don’t have the same look and feel to some.

But the Lee Valley web site shows all shorter lengths as “N/A”

and perhaps more importantly, the GRK site has nothing smaller than #9 or shorter than 2”
    https://www.grkfasteners.com/Portals...lSheets/R4.pdf

or shorter than 2 1/2” for the #8 trim head screw.

Since I really like these screws, should I go nuts with a bulk order?

    Thx

I dug a little deeper into the web site and found this price list showing smaller sizes still listed. Glad to see.

Thanks for digging further and sharing what you found. Nice to know these are still going to be made by GRK. Also a fan.

If you need a R4 substitute, try Sabre. Less than half the price, and for framing screws, I tend to think that R4's are overpriced. RSS, finish and Cabinet Screws, I'll gladly fork over the $ for the good GRK stuff. I also like that Sabre uses the same driver for all their screws.

I just received several boxes of the #8 under-2" GRK R4 screws from Amazon - they look the same as the the older GRK R4 screws I've been using. I'm accepting them at face value as genuine GRK screws.
