Plywood Finishing - De-waxed shellac or Paint Primer

I have a piece of plywood, that I am painting with Modern Masters Metallic Paint (https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Master...c%2Bpaint&th=1)

As this is bare plywood how I can prepare it for painting?

Shall I go with Sanding sealer like (http://www.rockler.com/zinsser-bullseye-sealcoat) or should get a paint primer?

I am planning to use my HVLP sprayer (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for the paint

Experts please advise/ recommend the best option and steps for getting a good finish?

    TIA

Zinsser BIN primer is great. In fact, it's shellac-based. So it will prime your color, and seal your wood all at once. You can even spray it.

    Sand well.

Go to the Modern Masters website and look up their technical data sheet for the paint. It lists about 7 or 8 different primers you can use including shellac based products. Check that and you will be good to go. It is always best to check the technical data sheet and that always requires going to the manufacturer's website. Amazon and the like never give much information. Cheers

My own experience is rather limited w finishing-however, after researching and reading all the highly qualified opinions on SMC, dewaxed shellac is the wonder sealer/coater. Does not matter whether you doing oil, water, or anything else-*Dewaxed* shellac makes everything compatible.

I usually use 3/4 to 1lb cut to do so.

Priming, per se? I have no knowledge on that topic.
