    Ever Tried this?

Wondering if anyone has tried using this wood from HD. New to laser engraving and looking to experiment with some local options. Wondering how it will mark, cut, etc. Using an Epilog Mini in 40w. Thanks for the help.

It cuts and engraves ok but is cheap and warps a lot. Just about anything you cut will warp.

Was just concerned that it may contain something that is not "laser friendly". New at this so not sure how to check different items. For $10 I will see what it does.

I will look at it in the store. Items will be small (about 6" X 3") so may work. Cheap enough to try. Thanks for the info.

There is a significant probability that pressed/layered board in the big box stores was bought from the lowest cost supplier. Often, that is from a Chinese supplier. They are known to make pressed/layered board as cheap as possible by cutting corners. Cutting corners can lead to the problem you are suggesting. The board you are looking at least claims to be formaldehyde free. Its data sheet says it is from Brazil. With that said, the data sheet was valid from 2009 to 2014!
