    Kitchen Is Finally FInished!

As I was installing the drawer fronts, the last step in finishing the kitchen, I discovered I had mis-measured one of the drawer fronts and had to go back and make another one, whitewash it, and put the final finish on it. ARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH! Anyway, I just installed the last piece today and it feels like a great weight has been lifted.

All the rails and stiles for the doors and drawer fronts came from the paneling taken from the master bedroom (that looked like this when we bought the house)

Wow, well done Julie. That's a pretty big kitchen. That must have kept you busy for a couple of day.

That knotty pine paneling brings back some memories. Glad mine is gone, too.

Looks really nice! Lots of nice counter space and the floor/table contrasts the white so nice!

Good work with a nice sense of modern orderliness. Avoids flashiness....except for conspicuous use of bacon!

Amazing work! The island is a great centerpiece and really attracts one's focus without being overly done.
    It all looks great.

Beautifully designed and executed. Not bad for someone that is 'neither an artist nor craftsman' and just does 'whatever needs to be done'.

    Kudos - Bill

Wow, thank you for all the kind words. It was unexpected but much appreciated.

It was such a relief to say I was done but soon after I made this post I realized I still had the island lighting to do. I've been playing with the idea of either making a boom from a sailboat and imbedding spots in the boom or making a row boat and mount it upside down with lights inside. I just never seem to be able to do anything the easy way.
