    pecan desk

A little pet project of mine I have been working on a little at a time in between other projects that I finally finished. Made with one of the last slabs of a pecan tree I milled up a few years ago, then I got some pecky pecan veneer for the panels. I liked the star handles I used on a mesquite desk I made recently, so thought I would take it a little further on this desk and make a center front panel with a veneer sunburst and a star inlay out of ebony/zebrawood. I like to refer to it as the 'lone star' desk, being the state tree and with the star accents. I also made this a little longer than the standard 60" desk. This is around 68" long, which should afford a lot of working area.

I also picked up some slabs of a HUGE pecan tree I milled up last year from the kiln. These should be fun!

..Very attractive desk, alex. The way you glued up the centre panel is striking.

Nice work! Definitely looks like you made it for a Texan with that big star! Are you keeping her or selling her?

Frederick, I will probably list it, but may use it. I still have a 90$ ikea desk I use, but this project was more to use the slab up and do some veneer practice. I may list it high, and if it sells it sells, and if not, I will keep and use it longer. I did get a few commissions of other desks based off this though, so its already paying some dividends.
