Thread: Any experience with persimmon?

    I bought a few small turning squares that came from some local storm damage. They started cracking pretty quickly, so I cut them up and carved spoons out of them - the results were very nice. The wood is very fine grained, hard, and takes a beautiful polish. (I use a custom oil/wax finish on my spoons).

    If you have some dark sections, I would love to buy some (to send to a friend as a present).
    Black persimmon is extremely highly regarded in Japan.
