    Join AAW and your local chapter. A wealth of knowledge. Our chapter has several Jet lathes, chucks, and tool sets that we loan to new turners for 3-6 month periods while they learn what they'd like to eventually acquire. Perhaps yours does too-- even a little experience will help you think about what you need. The demos and hands-on lessons that most chapters provide are invaluable.
