    Chess set #3

Chess set, pieces individually turned with board, 1 5/8" squares. Claro Walnut and Maple. Finished with Danish oil. Patterned with some modifications from Mike Darlow's book "Woodturning Chessmen", pg 124. Pieces have lead in the bases.

Very nice looking set Allan. I know how much time and patience went into turning this. I have turned two sets and also used Mike Darlows book for inspiration.
Nice board too, I like how you did the corners.

Some great work Allen, been thinking of making a set for my Son. Made him a gaming table over the winter and it included a chess board. He only has a commercial plastic set at the moment. Again, these look great.

Jame, if I remember correctly you turn pens. Check out Mike's book. Thanks to all who have taken the time to look and comment.

Chess sets are fun. Find a design you like. I also have a Pinterest board where I tagged a lot of pictures as I was researching https://www.pinterest.com/mikepeace356/chessmen/
