I'm a folk/bluegrass/acoustic fan mostly. Here's the first verse of one of my favorites from a North Carolina band called the Avett Brothers:

When my body won't hold me anymore
and it finally lets me free
    will I be ready?

When my feet won't walk another mile
and my lips give their last kiss goodbye
    will my hands be steady?

When I lay down my fears, my hopes and my doubts
the rings on my fingers and the keys to my house
    with no hard feelings.....

I quite enjoy that style as well. I used to attend a folk festival every year. All day and night event. Really cool experience, and boy oh boy that's where the hippies are. And they sure do like to "party". Lots of fun.

When I listen to some songs (Beatles) I get great visuals from hearing the lyrics:
    Eleanor Rigby - Beatles
    Penny Lane - Beatles

    More recent:
Bullet and a Target - Citizen Cope
Hospital Beds - Cold War Kids
    Feel Alright - Steve Earle

I love this whole song. The chorus is the best part. I also like the verse that says, "They own too much wicker and drink too much liquor..."

    Kacey Musgraves-
    Family is Family (Chorus)

Family is family, in church or in prison
You get what you get, and you don't get to pick 'em
They might smoke like chimneys, but give you their kidneys
Yeah, friends come in handy, but family is family

“Give Peace a Chance” just a dream some of us had. Joni Mitchell
“Give Peace a Chance”. John Lennon

this bowl came off the Lathe yesterday, I had to go out to the barn to get it.
I have a 300 CD player in the Barn/Shop, Music, A Shop Dog and Birdseye Maple. Who needs more!

I'm surprised this one hasn't come up yet:
    Imagine"
    (from "Imagine: John Lennon" soundtrack)

    Imagine there's no heaven
    It's easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today... Aha-ah...

    Imagine there's no countries
    It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion, too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace... You...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world... You...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

This one has been rattling around in my head for a month. I think it's the Creedence Clearwater Revival version but I'm not sure.

If you're ever in Houston, oh you better do right.
You better not gamble. And you better not fight.
Sherriff Johnson will get you. And the boys'll bring ya down.
The next thing ya know boy, well you're prison bound.
Let the midnight special, shine its light on me.

I meant to write that the song at the Dylan link I posted is strong in visualization, for me at least.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but there seems to be little interest in Dylan here at SMC. Or perhaps they aren't so outspoken.
This song is very high on most lists of the best songs. Best song ever according to Rolling Stone Magazine.
I think the instrumentation is near perfection. And lyrical content unmatched.
All member surely must have heard it a hundred times:

Dylan fans !! Weigh in on this.

I'm a fan of that weird sounding guy
No, seriously though, I do enjoy his work. When I was in high school my English teacher played a song by him and we were told to decipher it,'bout fell out of my chair laughing when it started because all the other kids were asking what this garbage was and blah blah blah..Darn kids these days.
