    Songs/Lyrics that resonate with you

I find music to be an excellent form of expression. Sometimes when listening to music there are particular lyrics that strike home for me. While reflecting over a few lines today, it got me thinking, what are some songs or lyrics that have really cemented themselves in your brain? I'll start with a few:
"Morals are simply a matter of time, and where you lay 'em that's a question of pride"

"Though it may haunt us, and break our hearts, death cannot tear us apart"

Anyone care to add to this? I plan on listening to any I don't recognize. I love experiencing new music!

Maybe this one would be forum appropriate:

"Fixing a hole in the ocean
Trying to make a dovetail joint, yeah
    Looking through a glass onion....."

Sorry - "Glass Onion" (The Beatles, White Album)
    Awesome song.
John Lennon wrote it as a way of mocking those fans that were reading too much into Beatles lyrics and album art. He thought it got out of control, and the song basically makes fun of them.
Now the term Glass Onion is a euphemism for reading too much into any particular thing be it a movie, politics, etc. Sometimes things are just as simple as they appear, even though we might want there to be a more complicated story behind them. Then again, I suppose art can have whatever meaning attached to it that the viewer chooses to attach.

The remix they did for the Beatles Love soundtrack is really good also, but not a replacement for the original song.

Oh no way! I remember that song now. It had all the so-called song experts perplexed trying to discover what the meaning behind their songs was. Man, what I would give to have been around for The Beetles touring days!

    "The Lost Boy"
    Greg Holden

    I will not be commanded
    I will not be controlled
I will not let my future go on
Without the help of my soul

    "Mystic"
    Joshua James

And if I don't believe, what does that mean
And when I die alone, who will eat my soul
In the cave of god, while the Angel's watch
    There's a manic scream, hallelujah

It's been a while since I've given Paxton a listen, think I might change that today, thank you!

My favorite, and most repeated lyric line of all time, courtesy of Mick Jagger:

You Can't Always Get What You Want

--it don't get any more plainer and simpler than that!

As for songs in general, pretty much anything Nightwish does, especially since Floor Jansen took over the singing duties. Black Sabbath was the first 8-track I ever bought back in '71 and I've been hooked on heavy metal ever since- and I can't believe I didn't find Nightwish until a couple years ago after a friend burned a couple of CD's for me. Just the other day I found their live Wacken show online, man....

Must be the time of the year to think about great music. On another forum I belong to there is a thread on a performance of Sounds of Silence by Disturbed. Suggest you check it out.

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson?
Joltin' Joe has left and gone away?

Don't get me started on Disturbed. I still like their version better than Simon and Garfunkle (i'm sure that's spelled wrong)
