Could someone suggest a good set of wood burning stamps to label bowls on the bottom.
I'd like to find one that I can stamp the date in large letters in the middle and to and from names above and below date.
What's a good choice?

You seem to be looking more for a brand with changeable date characters. I imagine that will be quite a pile of green. Most area turners label with name or initials, species of wood and date made. What you desire makes sense. Might be pretty big though.
The custom ones are not cheap. https://brandingirons.com/products/c...branding-irons An electric on runs over $500. Lee valley offers a simple one at a more reasonable price. http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/pag...56,43462,32190 They also have a non-electric http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/pag...=1,43456,43462
By the way, I first read your post to say "bowels" instead of "bowls." I thought, "gee, that's going to hurt!"

"Design"? Possibly. "Intelligent"? Sure doesn't look like it from this angle.

This guy does great work from what I've seen. Around $200 for a custom iron....

Here's another place you can try. They've made a couple of irons for me.

Thank you, Yonak. And thank you all for responding.
I bought a branding iron that works great, but only if the bottom is perfectly flat. I rarely use it anymore. I use a Dremel engraver, it cost a lot less than the iron. You can write whatever you need on the bowl. Then, I put Valspar antiquing wax in the engraving to make it stand out. image.jpeg
I only use a branding iron for flat work. I always sign my name (not initials) for turning work. I use either a Dremel and then fill with a lacquer stick or a woodburner. to use the Dremel and fill the wood needs to be sealed so the lacquer sticks doesn't fill the wood pores.
