    first clock

I had this highly figured wood and was wondering what to do with it when I came across a picture of a craftsman style clock. The curve in the figure wrapped nicely up the front.

Nicely done. Pleasant shape. Gorgeous wood!

Nice use of the grain to follow the design shape, and cheerful color is just what Craftsman style needs!

Wow, that is really nice, Bill. While I don’t have wood that beautiful, it would fit the bill for a housewarming gift for some friends of mine. Would you mind sharing some of the basic dimensions...and the clock face diameter and pendulum length? Very nice work. Thanks for sharing.

Wow ! Nice first clock. The wood alone should be a conversation-starter .. then there's the design. Nice job. ..And nice job of incorporating the grain and flow of the design.

thx for the kind words gents. Ya, the wood was special. I get 3x8x8' pcs of shoring and lagging that have been used, and I never know what I've got until I clean it up. When I planed this piece, I put it aside cuz it was so unusual. And then the grain was perfect for the clock.

Hi Phil - it's about 16" tall, 5 1/2" deep, 10" wide at the base. The wood is ash. The clock face is 4 1/2" from Clockworks. Also got the non chiming clock parts from them. Had to order a second unit from them because I wasn't paying attention and ordered one with a 3/16 post: way to short to mount on the 5/16 panel in the clock. I got the 13/16 post and put a rubber washer on the back. Worked fine.
