    Dusty Stuff

    It's just not possible to catch all the dust. Some settles on stuff, then it's right in my face when I disturb it. Some things that have helped;

    1. Seal the shop so it doesn't get into the rest of the basement

    2. Build a tool cabinet with drawers for most of the tools and hardware

    3. Install a ceiling and finish the walls to reduce the surface area

    4. Dust Cobra set up as central vac is much better than a shop vac

    5. Air cleaner on a timer cleans the air after I leave

    6. Close capture dust collection at most sources

    7. Planning to install vinyl tile on the floor for easier cleanup

    Looking for more ideas.

    Hi Tom, I have a non sealed basement shop that's almost dust free.

    The 2 main culprits in my shop were the table saw and band saw.

    The table saw was easy, use overhead collection as well as under blade collection.

    The band saw was more difficult, requiring the fabrication of a cardboard hood and bungee cord.

    I also don't use a router, I use a shaper and it has good dust collection.

    For a shop vacuum I have a Festool CT26, I have an Oneida cyclone with a HEPA filter for the main machinery.

    I gave away my old ROS and bought a Festool ROS, dust collection is dramatically better..........Regards, Rod.
