    Dust Collectors

Toolboxbuzz.com has an interesting video of tests of 8 dust collectors.

Semantics. They do collect the dust, even though they are a lot smaller than the cyclone I have on my garage wall, which also extracts the chips and dust from my machines. . I have the Festool one.

Odd. I scanned the article, and didn't see any mention of tool-triggering. That is, the dust extractor can be set to start when a tool like a sander is turned on. It is essential for this kind of machine.

There is mention of a "power broker switch" -- but I don't know what that means.

My Festool starts automatically when the tool it is attached to--the saw or sander or whatever--starts. The newer Festool can have a bluetooth connection to start it, maybe for the newer cordless tools. I didn't read the specs.

I saw the video for that review. Good stuff but I didnt like that they used the higher prices AC version of the CT36 to compare with other vacs that dont offer that feature. They should have used the regular CT 36 and used the price of that one to compare to the others. Would have made Festool look like a better if not the best bang for buck.

Wish I had seen this before ordering a Fein on Sunday. Thanks for posting.
Rustic? Well, no. That was not my intention!
