This is a beautiful piece owned by my friend, but I cannot say who or where because he will kill me. He is a collector of West Indian furniture and art.
The piece was made by Haitian artisans in the late 17 or early 1800’s. The wood is Mahogany and beautiful Caribbean Walnut. It has a beeswing quilt to it. Just an amazing piece.

Here is the closeup of the panel.

That is not veneer- it is solid, and the backside is rough hewn and has small wooden tabs across the joint, set with nails. Not sure if the tabs are original to the piece or added later, but certainly they are old.
