starting on philipine and Honduras it was a disappointment to get stuck with African at some point in time as my only choice. Lucky as i had suppliers that gave me top grade full lifts and let me pick so I got the best of it still it wasnt the greatest looking material. Didnt have issues with movement but I always joint plane put on edge and leave it, what Barry is calling double machining is how it was done however you want to refer to it, the old guy said all work they did in the 50s when he apprenticed was done that way.

First time I used quarter sawn sapelle it threw me for a loop,. I took my jointer apart trued it to very accurate and it was exactly the same, that showed me it was the material and it didnt respond to machining the way other materials do.
