    9" Shinto Saw Rasp

Ran across the Shinto Rasp on Amazon and see it has high review rating.
Is it as good as the reviews say?

    Fantastic!

It has a coarse and a fine side. The coarse is similar to a 10 grain, while the fine is about 13 grain.

I don't have one but they are available with an offset handle.

I have both styles but, not the “shorty” that you show. Love them.

Had one; donated it to the local Habitat ReStore; but that may be a product of how I use rasps. If I've got a flat or convex surface to shape, I tend to use a plane, spokeshave, or drawknife. Rasps come into play when I need to work a concave surface, so a flat rasp just isn't handy for me.

But they do have a good reputation.

I have both as well, and find the one with the handle to be a pig to hold and use. The straight, unhandled one is a delight.
