    Grinding wheels

I use 6" grinding wheels on my grinder. How do I know when to replace them. I do use the Oneway sharpening jig. I am not interested in getting the diamond wheels, nor do I want to get a larger grinder.
The hurrier I goes, the behinder I gets.

Basically I think you replace the wheels on a grinder when you decide they are too small for you. I don't know of any guidelines. When I was sharpening lathe tools on standard 8" wheels I replaced them before they got to 7-1/2" diameter because I didn't want more concavity than that on my turning tools. But I think it is a matter of preference.

For one grinder in my welding shop I let the wheels get smaller since don't sharpen tools with it.
