What to do with the top of the corner posts on my trunk?

Im just about finished my trunk, I just started sanding it down. One thing I don’t like is the top of my corner posts stand out like a sore thumb, and I’m not sure what I want to do here. I was thinking of using a roundover bit on my router, but I can see that creating a disaster in that area.

I think I would add horizontal pieces all the way around at top and bottom. And they would serve to make any slight
openings between the top and the chest less obvious. And I would not round them over. The more stuff you make the better you will see ahead and avoid surprises. Let us see it again after you put on the finish.

I’ll second Mel’s suggestion. And yes, please share the finished piece.

You may consider also putting a mating band around the lid .. to imagine how that would look.

Put a bead around the edge of the lid that just covers the tops of the posts. Cheers
