    Cleats in wall cabinets

For kitchen wall cabinets, would you use a 3/4" cleat in the cabinet or a back sheet that is more robust. I have seen designs with the 3/4" cleat and then 1/4" plywood. I have also looked at cabinets that have a 1/2" back and no cleat.

Tom, I couldn't decide which to answer so I picked this one.

The cabinets in our house have no backs. They do have a 3/4" thick cleat across the top. I would do that on new cabinets but use a French cleat for it.

When I hung my cabinets, I went with a French Cleat. Made hanging them a lot easier.
