    Cracked screen on an Ipad

I have a cracked screen on my IPad is it worth repairing?
My dog has a cone on her head after a recent operation and knocked it of a stool where it was charging
She is going to be fine but she bumps into everything.

It’s about $90-$100 to have someone replace the screen. DIY kit is about $40.

For the price we pay for these devices they should have better glass than what they have. I have an android phone with "gorilla glass" that is pretty tough. It has fallen on hard surfaces several times with no ill affects until my granddaughter got a hold of it. It fell just 18" onto a carpeted floor and cracked. Been that way for 3 years now and still works but I'm afraid my time is limited on the screen.
I guess if they made them bullet proof they wouldn't sell as many.
Any way my wife replaced the screen on a tablet for around $30. She said if it breaks while doing it it wouldn't be much of a loss. She took it in on a trade so she didnt have much in it. It's tricky but can be done.

There are a bunch of kiosks at the mall where they will do it for well under $100. If you need a new battery you can probably get it at the same time for only one labor charge (hint-- they negotiate, since there are four of them within sight of each other). Almost certainly worth repairing, the newer ones aren't much different.

Also, Apple will replace your old battery for $30 because of the whole battery-gate thing a couple months ago.

That's for the iPhone 6, 6+, 6S and 6S+, and later, AFAIK, not the iPad.

Phone battery service pricing. *Through December 31, 2018, the out-of-warranty battery service fee is $29 for all eligible iPhone 6 or later models. Battery service at $29 may be limited to one repair per iPhone. Issues caused by accidental damage aren't covered under the Apple Limited Warranty.

I have successfully replaced an iPad screen using one of the kits mentioned by Matt Day. It was not too challenging if you are patient, good at following directions, and reasonably handy.

I got a new phone and 3 days after I dropped it and cracked the screen very bad. That was almost 3 years ago. I never fixed it, but I'm getting a new phone this year.
