    Back to issues uploading photos

So OK...last month I solved my issues with uploading downsized photos by choosing the http.// protocal version of this site as opposed to the https.// version of the site. They simply will not upload using the https.// version.

Today I was going to upload more photos to a new thread and there is no longer an http.// version of this site even available from what I can tell.

as such I am right back where I was one month ago. I can't upload photos to a post at this site. The photos make it to the manage attachments section. Then when I hit the Insert Online button, they will not move to the post itself.

    So now what?

In the last thread I posted on this topic. Somebody was going to have an administrator look at this. It appears that the only result is that the one method I had that worked for uploading photos has been removed as it appears that there is no longer an http.// version of the site that can even be accessed. That was not exactly the result I was looking for and looks more like a denial of privileges.

So if somebody can show me what to do next that would be great.

What makes you believe there is no http version? I'm viewing this thread using it.

Simply go into your browser, delete your old SMC cookies and click on this link and you should be all set. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/forum.php

I routinely log in using that link. so the Http site still works.

I tried a different browser yesturday and got an http protocal version using it.
I could get an http protocal version using the previous browser last month. This month the https protocal is chosen and locked and access to the lock was bared. So I could not even unlock the lock.
Then I tried to just manual key the http protocal and got an error message telling me it did not exist with the Sawmill Creek extension. Basically got the mightly exclaimation point in yellow triangle with a comment that the URL was in error.
But a different browser appears to have resolved it. Yes, in between this month and last there was another OS security upgrade. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Lee, the forced HTTPS started happening to me today. Regardless of whether I type in the URL by hand or use an HTTP link Firefox switches to HTTPS. I deleted the SMC tab in firefox, removed all SMC cookies, restarted Win10, restarted SMC - still can't access by HTTP.

TEST IMAGE UPLOAD, logged in under HTTPS:

    pinkflame.jpg

Seems to upload the image OK.

Forced HTTPS here now, too...and somehow, it forced my system to forget my password, too.

Yes, your browser will not send your old HTTP cookie to an HTTPS site. This will necessitate a login.

Hopefully, the 'strange characters' issue will go away now, and everything should start working again.
