It's a coping sled for making raised panel doors. Specifically the cope cut on the ends of the rails.
Wow. Thank you! I wasnt sure exactly what you had said so I googled it, and YouTube has a Rockler video demonstrating the same jig. I appreciate your help!
Glad to help out. Nice looking jig, BTW. Grandpa did a nice job building it. If you ever find yourself making doors, be sure to back up your workpiece with a sacrificial scrap since the cutter will tend to blow out the back side of the end grain cut. Any thin strip will do but make sure it's not tapered.
