    Here is my first cedar chest I've built. I built it with ash and walnut. I then layered the inside with cedar. Also, I used my Powermatic mortising machine on it for the first time. I built it for a friend of mine for his wedding gift. He and his wife love it.

    13 - Complete - 3.jpg

    Just got into woodworking last year. Recently moved to Japan and needed a table so I decided to build one. The wood came from the beams of an old Japanese farmhouse that was torn down. I got the last of the available lumber and it was in rough shape so I decided to salvage what I could and build a butcherblock style table. Wood is Japanese white oak (nara). Table is 2 inches thick with an inner border of maple (kaede) finished with a 3 inch oak border. Base is Japanese cedar (sugi) but I'm probably going to change it when we get back stateside.

    Toys for my grandson

    Don"t know if these qualify as"woodworking" but I've been making toys for my grandson, a santa sled and a pirate ship.
