I was a TV technician while in Tech school and repaired hundreds of lightening damaged TV’s. This was back in late 70’s and early 80’s when there were a huge varieties of TV’s around. Tubes, hybrid and full solid state. The majority of them just had one or two shorted diodes which in turn blew the fuse. Most needed lots of internal adjusting because people kept their TV’s for years even though they broke down every year or two. I saw a ham radio antenna cable that had been disconnected in their basement and placed inside a quart mason jar. The glass was melted into a blob around the end of the cable.
