I picked up 250 birch 9 inch spindles from a furniture factory that closed. I can use them to turn Tree ornaments and a few other things from the beads and coves already turned with just slight reshaping. The cool part is that the ends are already turned down to tapers that fit snugly into a morse no 1. No chuck or spur necessary, just the slightest tap on the end to seat the head stock end and bring the cup live center on the tail stock up to steady it. Been turning, light bulbs, snowmen, tear drops, bowling pins, rolling pins, Christmas trees, Lamp posts, fish, bird houses, icicles, etc. Been getting two or three ornaments per spindle. Now to figure out how to paint/dye/color them.
