They may look tall, but you’ll love having that height inside! Looking good.

More progress, roofing should start today. I'm really glad I picked the 4x6 north windows, they are huge. I know a lot of people want a complete cave for a shop but I need the natural light.

I also like natural light and while the giant front window of my shop takes up "wall" space, the cantilevered miter station in front of it takes care of that without blocking much of the light. And I get more from the doors, too.

    Nice progress on your project!

Tom, building is looking great. I have a question for you. When pricing out the building, how much more did using the zip system cost versus regular sheathing and house wrap? Are you also using the zip system on the roof?

I believe it added about $500, also using it on the roof.

My biggest pain right now is getting my ground rods installed. I rented a 35 lb demo hammer for 4 hours and couldn't get the rod in more than 3 feet, it appears its pretty much solid rock at that point. So I'm going to have to get a trencher and lay it sideways at 30" deep according to the NEC.

Does anyone know if its OK to lay the ground rod in the same trench as the conduit with the service cable? It would be 6" below it. Web search seems to say its OK. Wanting to get one of them in easily so I can at least start wiring.

Can you use a ground plate instead where you are? That involves a lot less digging.

I don't think so, its two 8-foot ground rods 6 feet apart, I'm supposed to follow the latest NEC.

Looking good Thomas. Your builder certainly likes to use ample bracing.

I see your using finger joint studs. I bet the are a lot straighter than standard studs.

Much straighter, about 4 cents extra per stud for 10'

Got about 6" of rain in 8 hours earlier in the week, ended up with a 2' moat around the back patio:

Otherwise the roof is progressing, sheathing should be done today.

Great progress, love the bridge over the moat. Is it structural and permitted?
