A new product hit the market in October 2016 that could be a Sublimation Game Changer for guys like me.
I have a box of .080 Waterjet cut tags the same size as my FRP Fire Tags from 2007. I wanted to Sublimate them but was not happy with my first choice of sticking on a Sublimated MATES Film. The Poly sticky film in white or clear. Then the Spray Can idea... Bought the spray but with the oven cure and fumes... gave up.
THEN... I read about this new product called SubTHAT. It is a poly film that you stick on the tag like I have then into the Heat Press to cure it. You know it is cured when it is no longer sticky like paint and a finger nail can't scratch it. You then Sublimate like normal. In my case I would coat both sides then print each side.
They now have a Gloss Clear and Matt Clear. They also have a Matt White. A 2nd version of the White is expected out in January that is more opaque or less see through. I am going to wait for the new white before ordering a roll.
Here is a price list and some videos. At first glance it looks Pricey but for me even 2 sided it provides a method that I did not have before.
When I heard about it in October. I thought you printed on the film then transferred or printed it... I was so wrong... Second look when I saw the JDS Video by Lisa.
