Thread: Am I hosed? (crack in #4)

    I finished fussing with it, replaced the pitted, bent iron with one from Ron Hock, and it cuts quite splendidly! I'm wondering why I didn't do this years ago. I'm just going to keep using it as is for the moment.

    Glad to hear it is working out for you.

    Here is one of my planes that has a broken side:

    It slipped out of my hand while working away from the bench. The sound of the tinkling as it hit the floor gave me a knot in my gut. It was repaired using JB Weld.

    It still is one of my preferred planes and is used regularly. In fact today it was the only plane to be used in the shop. For small items it is often my preferred shooting board plane.
