Searching for small box lid support/side braces

I recently made a small box (8" x 8") for a friend for his wood carving supplies. He wanted the lid to be deep, like an upside down 2nd box. I made the lid, but it's on the heavy side and I want to be able to prop it open and hold its place. I'd prefer not to have to do any mortising if I don't have to. Also hoping not to spend a ton of $ for the supports. Any ideas are very much appreciated!

These are pretty straight-forward, and install with two screws (no mortising): Lid stay
