    My First Set of Chairs

other than outdoor types and the occasional single, this is my first set of six

following a planset from popular woodworking, here they are

hard maple and walnut, leather seat cover

template shaping for the rear legs on my old delta shaper, angled mortise and tenon using my old beaver drill press and a "chairmakers saw", back slats are cold molded laminations

i cant claim credit for all of the furniture in the picture, this is our true family room, works by my father(table and hunt board) and my father in law(clock and corner cabinet)

The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...

    Steve,

Those look awesome, but I tell you what is also great... the fact that both your dad, your father-in-law, and you are all accomplished woodworkers. I hope you have a son or daughter that you are bringing up in the shop as well.

You have done a very nice job! I am also in the throes of making my first set of chairs. A difficult part for me to get right is inside the back leg angle. Band saw gets me close. How do you get that part planer with the other two faces of the angle? Also curious about the "chairmakers saw"? Thanks
Rustic? Well, no. That was not my intention!
