flat poly v belt for lathe - where to buy

Have to buy a poly v belt for my vicmarc 300. Looking to reposition the motor and need about 4 in longer belt (finially finishing up my lathe stand build).

I have never bought a poly v belt before. I live in a large city and have access to many vendor types. Just curious what are some types of places that sell poly v belts.

    Thanks
    Michael

I generally buy v-belts at auto parts stores. I take the old belt if possible. I don't know about poly but google lists many.

    John,

Thanks, I will go to an auto parts store. I did not think of that. I will take the belt and pulley.

You may want to check here also if you have one local. Usually a lot less than a special order from an auto store.

I'd check for a bearings and drives type business. Auto stores might not be up to speed unless the belt you need is used in automotive applications.

You can get belts for anything at http://www.beltsforanything.com/store

Their prices are also very good.

Not sure on the Vic, but I used a link belt on an old lathe where I moved the motor. They do stretch out quite a bit, so you have to take them off, then remove a link or three, then put them back on. Nice because they are very adjustable. Tried a link belt on my big Laguna bandsaw. It didn't work, possibly because of metric sizing... Had to pull the bottom drive wheel.... First guy didn't tell me the 'secrets' for doing it the easy way, but got it figured out.

Just an update. picked up a belt for a vicmarc 300 and followed the instructions in the video https://www.facebook.com/vicmarcmach...3446226363134/

I had not changed out a belt before, so the instructions were useful. Thanks for all your tips on places to buy,

    Michael
