    New Toys

I made a dozen toy trucks to give as gifts on our next vacation. The wheels are cut from one inch dowels with 1/4" axles. They are spray painted with Rust-oleum.

Gary, those are great! Looks like they would be fairly quick to make too. How did you hollow out for the truck beds?

Just curious, you said you give these as gifts on vacation. Are these going to family and friends you visit, is this a tradition? If so I'll bet the kids are glad to see you coming!

Some years ago I started carrying little woodturnings, mostly finger tops, to give to kids. I always kept a handful in my pocket and gave them to people who ran the B&Bs, craftsmen and shop keepers I met, people we shared space with on the train. Little things like that are great conversation starters, even when the conversation is mostly gestures when we had no common language!
